Wilton Public Works Director to Retire: Report

His retirement is the culmination of a 36-year career with the department.

WILTON, CT — A longtime public servant has decided to call it a career this week. Tom Thurkettle, Wilton's director of the Department of Public Works, announced Monday he will retire after 31 years according to a report from the Norwalk Hour. Thurkettle will be stepping down on Sept. 1.

Thurkettle told the publication he hopes to spend as much time as possible on his boat, but still plans on checking in on the town regularly. A lifelong Stratford resident, he oversaw a department of 22 workers.
