Muhammed Ali, a student at Windsor's Madina Academy, won third place at the 64th Connecticut Science Fair.
His project, Manufacturing and Biodegrading Bioplastics: Observing the Speed of Biodegradation of Potato, Rice, Tapioca and Corn Starch Based Plastics, was honored by Connecticut Light and Power, United Illuminating and the Energy Efficiency Board for identifying sustainable products and technologies.
He won a $200 cash prize and a trophy.
