Person Shot Inside Restaurant, Windsor Police Say
Police said a person was wounded in a shooting early Saturday morning on Windsor Avenue.
WINDSOR, CT — Windsor police are investigating a shooting that occurred early Saturday morning, according to the department.
According to a release from the Windsor Police Department, officers responded to Giovanni’s Restaurant at 578 Windsor Avenue at approximately 12:21 a.m. Saturday, December 20th, after receiving a report of a person who had been shot.
Police said officers found the male victim lying on the kitchen floor with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was rushed into surgery. He is listed in stable but serious condition.

Investigators said a witness at the scene provided a description of the suspect and the vehicle involved. An alert was then sent to police departments throughout the Northeast.
New York State Police later stopped the vehicle and took the suspect into custody. The suspect was transported to a police precinct in New York City on weapons-related charges and is currently being held in New York. Police said the suspect is expected to face additional charges related to the Windsor shooting.

The restaurant, Giovanni’s Pizza Restaurant & Lounge, had opened earlier this year in the Windsor Shops plaza next to Price Rite, according to a social media post from the town’s economic development office.
The investigation remains ongoing, authorities say.
