February 13, 2011: Northwest Park's Sugarhouse, Poetry at the Arts Center and "Eat to Live"
Sunday brings the opening of the Northwest Park sugarhouse, poetry at the Windsor Arts Center and registration for the "Eat to Live" dinner at Bart's.

1. There is an anticipated high of 36 today with a 40-percent chance of precipitation, but little to no accumulation. Temperatures will remain in the 30's tonight and there a slight chance of snow, followed by rain, before midnight, according to National Weather Service reports.
2. Today is the first day of the season that you'll be able to take your family to Northwest Park's sugarhouse to learn about the sugaring process from resident sugar expert Chuck Drake. You can visit from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
3. The Windsor Arts Center will hold a special poetry event this afternoon. Award-winning poets Polly Brody and Brad Davis will perform original pieces as a part of the Arts Center's "Poetry on the Line" event, which will begin at 2 p.m. This event is free and open to all.

4. If you're interested in attending the "Eat to Live" dinner at Bart's Beanery and Bistro tomorrow evening, you'll need to rsvp as soon as possible by calling 860-688-5165. The dinner is only $10, and is limited to 40 people. The dinner is made to promote healthy living, organic foods, and health tips.
5. On this day in history, 1945, the allied forces completed the bombing of Dresden, Germany. As portrayed in Kurt Vonnegut's classic novel, "Slaughterhouse Five," the bombing was among the most destructive of the war, claiming over 100,000 lives.
