Karieva, Stewart: Recent Death Notices From Windsor

WINDSOR, CT — Here are some recent death notices from Windsor.
William Karieva, 88, husband of Marylou Webster Karieva for 58 years, died March 16, 2025. He served six years in the U.S. Army Reserves, and was involved in stock car racing as part owner of the Flying Zero. Hewas employed by Joseph Sandamena Plumbing and Kaman Aerospace, from which he retired in 1998. While a lieutenant in the Poquonock Fire Department, he was recognized for the rescue of a local youth from drowning in Silver Birch Pond. He later served as chairman of the Windsor Public Building Commission.
Mark Stewart, 62, of Windsor, formerly of Suffield, beloved husband of 32 years to Rose Mary (Moore) Stewart, passed away unexpectedly on March 21, 2025. A natural athlete, he excelled in soccer, basketball, baseball and track, earning numerous state championship titles. In 2014, he was inducted into the Suffield Athletic Hall of Fame for his record-breaking speed - many of his high school track records remain unbeaten to this day. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and served while attending the University of Hartford, where he played varsity soccer and majored in mechanical engineering.
