"The Life & Legacy of Prudence Crandall through the eyes of faith," an interactive PowerPoint presentation facilitated by Drew Crandall, will be held at The Heart Church, 1817 Poquonock Avenue, on Thursday, February 22 at 10 am. The 90-minute event is being hosted by Peace, Wonder, Wisdom Schole, a local homeschool group. Admission is free and open to the public.

Prudence Crandall is the Official Heroine of Connecticut because of her courageous stand against racism and slavery in the 1830s. Come and discover fascinating aspects of Prudence's early years, what led to her situation in Canterbury, why she did what she did, how things came to a head, and the ripple effect of her life which continues today. Her life is an encouraging example of how one person can make a difference.

The Crandall family has a rich, nearly 400-year local and regional history. While presenter Drew Crandall is not a direct descendant of Prudence, he is part of the same Crandall family dating back to the Rev. John Crandall, who landed in Boston in 1634, was one of the founders of the first Baptist church in the New World in Providence, of the colony of Rhode Island, and of the city of Westerly. Drew participated in the grand opening of the Prudence Crandall Museum in 1984, has spoken at many events on behalf of the Crandall family, and served as President of the Friends of the Prudence Crandall Museum from 2018-2019.
