Windsor Man Sent to Hospital With Minor Injuries After Accident

West Hartford Police responded to an accident during the snowstorm over the weekend, that sent two people to the hospital.

West Hartford officers responded to a motor vehicle accident on Bloomfield Avenue, just south of Sunny Reach Drive, at approximately 5:09 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23.

“A Volvo was being driven by Theodoro Buitrago south on Bloomfield Ave.,” according to a West Hartford Police report. “The Volvo lost control on the snow-covered roadway and crossed the yellow lines and collided with a northbound Volkswagen being driven by Joslyn Campbell.”

Police said the front of the Volkswagen collided with the driver’s side of the Volvo.

“Mr. Buitrago had to be extricated from his car by the West Hartford fire department,” according to police. “Both Mr. Buitrago and Mr. Campbell were treated on scene and transported to St. Francis Hospital.”

Campbell had minor injuries and Buitrago had serious injuries, but is reported to be stable at the hospital.

Buitrago is a 75-year-old West Hartford resident. The roof of his car was removed for extrication purposes and the driver’s side sustained heavy damage.

Campbell is a 56-year-old Windsor resident. His station wagon sustained heavy front end damage. Both cars were towed from the scene.
