4 Windsor Locks/East Windsor Nonprofits To Support This Holiday Season
Here's how to contribute locally on Giving Tuesday 2024.
WINDSOR LOCKS-EAST WINDSOR, CT — If you’re like many of your neighbors, you may spend a good part of the holiday season with your credit card in hand buying gifts for family and friends. Coming up soon is a chance to give back to the local community.
Giving Tuesday, which in 2024 falls on Dec. 3, is a day dedicated to supporting nonprofit and community groups. Since 2012, nonprofits worldwide have used the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to galvanize fundraising, rally volunteers and add momentum to their causes.
Maintaining funding is a constant challenge for many nonprofits that fill gaps and meet other needs in and near Windsor Locks and East Windsor.

Here is a sampling of nonprofit organizations to consider getting behind on Giving Tuesday:
- Pauline's Stock Pot Kitchen is located in the basement of Wesley United Methodist Church, 55 North Main Street in the Warehouse Point section of East Windsor. It is open Wednesdays and Fridays, and there are no income or residency requirements.
- The Five Corner Cupboard, which is housed at the First Congregational Church of East Windsor, is a Christian-based, ecumenical food pantry whose mission is to provide supplemental food and hygiene items to people in need who are referred by the East Windsor Human Services Department. It was started in 1973 and is run totally by volunteers from this and other area churches.
- Windsor Locks Lions Charities donates to eye charities, runs a volunteer ambulance, sponsors youth activities and provides aid to the needy.
- Windsor Locks Dollars for Scholars is affiliated with the national organization, Scholarship America, with the goal of opening doors to higher education, including two-year, four-year, and vocational and technical colleges, for individuals in Windsor Locks. Many colleges and universities provide matching funds for Dollars for Scholars awards.
