WINDSOR LOCKS-EAST WINDSOR, CT — Here are some recent death notices from Windsor Locks and East Windsor.
Larry Atwood, 73, of Broad Brook, loving husband of 19 years to Barbara (Kingsmore) Atwood, passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 7, 2025. Following high school, Larry began employment as an oil burner technician and spent over 20 years at Mitchell Fuel. He continued working with his own business until his retirement in 2023. He enjoyed completing home improvements, woodworking projects, general carpentry and any HVAC projects to name a few.
Susan (Berry) Hartford, 67, of Windsor Locks, passed away on March 5, 2025. She was raised in Enfield before moving to Windsor Locks 38 years ago. She worked for Hi-G for several years before enjoying a long career with the United States Postal Service from 1986 to 2023. Susan married James and they enjoyed 38 years of marriage before his passing in 2023. She had a deep love for music, especially the Doobie Brothers and Elton John, and enjoyed singing and performing in school plays.

Ruth (Barstis) Hastillo, 96, of Broad Brook, beloved wife of the late Edward Hastillo, passed away on March 8, 2025. She became known locally as the Tomato Lady, selling vegetables, flowers and the world’s best hothouse tomatoes at the family’s farmstand at Hastillo Farms. Ruth and Ed enjoyed many traveling adventures together, visiting places such as Brazil, Spain and Egypt. They were a team, united in hard work and love for all.
