Banasiak, Sapoznik, Urso: Recent Death Notices From Windsor Locks And East Windsor

WINDSOR LOCKS-EAST WINDSOR, CT — Here are some recent death notices from Windsor Locks and East Windsor.

Edward Banasiak, 69, longtime resident of Windsor Locks and forever connected to his beloved community of Windsor, passed away suddenly, unexpectedly and entirely too soon on May 2, 2025 due to complications of heart disease. He lived in Windsor until he married his soul mate, Debbie Andrews, in 1982. They settled in neighboring Windsor Locks after a love story for the books. He selflessly served his hometown as a Windsor police officer for 32 years. He was a recognized forensic expert, always willing to lend a hand to another department in need. He completed the FBI National Academy, and once trekked up to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Ontario to assist on a complex case.

Theodore Sapoznik, 91, of Windsor Locks, loving husband of 69 years of Shirley (Colombi) Sapoznik,crossed the finish line on April 29, 2025. He graduated from Putnam Technical School and had a long and successful career in aviation maintenance, including the operation of Sapoznik Aviation at Ellington Airport with his brother Bob. In his later years, he excelled in his retirement hobby, shooting sporting clays. He traveled all over the country to participate in all the major national competitions. He won many events and made the All-American Team of the National Sporting Clays Association as a Super Senior Class shooter.

Cynthia (DuBois) Urso, 70, of Enfield, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025. A dedicated public servant, Cindy served as a police dispatcher for the East Windsor Police Department for 33 years, retiring in July 2016. Known for her calm presence, professionalism and integrity, she provided unwavering support to officers and the community, touching countless lives through her commitment. In retirement, Cindy found joy in the simple pleasures of life - spending time with her beloved husband of 27 years, Gaetano Urso, and their cherished dog, Molly.
