EAST WINDSOR, CT — The body of a local man who had been reported missing by his family Tuesday morning was found Wednesday afternoon in his pickup truck at the edge of the Connecticut River on North Water Street.

Ronald Laavoie, 65, had been reported missing around 9 a.m. Tuesday, with a family member telling police he was last seen driving a white Chevrolet Silverado. Leads from family and friends proved fruitless, as police were unable to locate him, Chief Matthew Carl said.

Around 12:40 p.m. Wednesday, a hiker notified police he had spotted a man slumped over in a white pickup truck near the river. The man, later identified as Lavoie, was pronounced dead at the scene, Carl said.
