Buckley, Ryan, Weller: Recent Death Notices From East Windsor

EAST WINDSOR, CT —Here are some recent death notices from East Windsor.
Mary Buckley, 78, passed away on March 9, 2025. She graduated from St Mary’s Elementary School in Windsor Locks, East Windsor High School and attended photography and law enforcement classes at Manchester Community College. She found her life’s calling with the Connecticut State Police in 1980, graduating at the top of her class at the academy. She was a trooper for more than 28 years, retiring with the rank of Trooper First Class, and remained an avid proponent of law enforcement for the remainder of her life.
Dennis Ryan, 79, of Somers, husband of Jeannette (Hourihan) Ryan, passed away on March 24, 2025. He grew up in the Broad Brook section of East Windsor and graduated from East Windsor High School. A veteran of the U.S. Army, 4th Infantry Division, Dennis proudly served his country in Vietnam from 1965-1967. He received many medals and accolades for his service and bravery. He spent much of his life behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler on night shift as a proud member of Teamsters Local 559.

Philip Richard Weller, 85, known as Richard, husband of Patricia (Surdell) Weller, left us peacefully on March 23, 2025. Affectionately known as the “Potato King,” he dedicated his life to his work as a potato broker. His passion for potatoes transcended mere business; it was a labor of love that saw him ship potatoes from coast to coast and across seas, reaching every corner of the country and beyond. Due to his thriving business, he and his family had the unique opportunity to live in various locations, creating a tapestry of memories in homes that spanned from Montreal to Ohio, Virginia and Florida.
