American International College, Springfield MA

  • Windsor Locks resident Sebastyan Torres is a Resident Adviser (RA) for the 2024-2025 academic year at American International College. Resident Advisers are students chosen for their leadership qualities, interpersonal skills, and dedication to fostering a positive impact on their fellow students. Among the RA's responsibilities are mentoring, community building, safety and security, policy enforcement, and communication.

Cedarville University, Cedarville OH

  • Charles Ruckersfeldt of Broad Brook was named to the Dean's Honor List at Cedarville University for fall 2024. This recognition requires the student to obtain a 3.75 GPA or higher for the semester and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

  • More than 100 first-generation students from Eastern Connecticut State University were inducted into the Tri Alpha National Honor Society on Nov. 8, recognizing their academic achievements despite the challenges of being the first in their families to attend college. Among those inducted were Taylor Ribeiro of Broad Brook, a sophomore studying communication, film & theatre, and Valerie Rosario of Windsor Locks, a junior studying psychology. Tri Alpha offers lifetime membership and recognizes first-generation students who display significant academic achievement. Students with a GPA of 3.2 or higher and whose biological parents have not earned a four-year college degree in the U.S. or Canada were eligible for induction into Tri Alpha, a national honor society for first-generation college students.
