EAST WINDSOR, CT — A man reported missing Sunday from East Windsor was reportedly last seen leaving a party in Chicopee, Mass. late Saturday, prompting investigators from both towns to work collaboratively in an attempt to find him.

Daniel Callahan, 26, was reported missing by his father shortly before 10 a.m. Sunday. The man said his son had not returned home Saturday night, which was out of character. Family and friends told police they had seen Callahan leaving a party in Chicopee just before midnight Saturday, but had not heard from him since, East Windsor Deputy Police Chief Benjamin Murphy said.

"Although no initial medical, mental health or safety concerns were relayed, all interviewed parties were concerned with Callahan’s absence," Murphy wrote in a memo to Chief Matthew Carl. "Interviews with acquaintances, canvasses and cellphone pings proved fruitless for investigators."

Callahan was entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) as a missing person, and social media posts were put out on various platforms which also garnered local news coverage. He was last seen driving a black Toyota Camry bearing Connecticut registration AJ14375, which is registered to his father, Murphy said.

During the investigation, East Windsor police were notified that Chicopee police was simultaneously investigating an incident believed to be related. Around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Chicopee officers responded to the area of Walter Street on a complaint of a male in the Connecticut River. No one was located, but upon returning to the scene at 10:30 a.m., detectives discovered a scene which appeared to result in a vehicle being driven into the river, Murphy said.

Dive teams from the area, including Massachusetts State Police, ultimately located the Toyota in 18 feet of water. However, neither Callahan nor any other occupants) had been located, Murphy said.

Callahan is still considered missing, and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information on his current whereabouts is requested to contact the East Windsor Police Department at 860-292-8240.
