Celebrating 25 Year in Business with 25 Weeks of Giving
East Windsor's Infoshred is celebrating its 25th birthday by giving gifts to the community

Infoshred is celebrating its 25th birthday by giving presents to nonprofits throughout the state. They recently kicked off their “25 Weeks of Giving” effort by reaching out to 25 community groups asking for their clients’ wish lists. From now until the end of 2022 their employees will be visiting those organizations and granting their clients’ wishes for goods and services.
“As part of our celebration to mark our 25 years in business, we wanted to give back to some of the organizations that make our communities better,” says Infoshred’s president, Stacey J. Lombardo. “But instead of simply writing checks to those organizations, we decided to ask them what was on their clients’ wish lists and making some of those wishes come true.”
The East Windsor-based company provides secure information lifecycle management through records storage, information destruction and e-recycling services. They began their birthday give-back campaign by asking employees for their suggestions of organizations that were close to their hearts. Lombardo contributed her ideas and loaded them into a ticket drum. The 25 organizations that were randomly drawn were: Chrysalis Center, Community Renewal Team, Cornerstone Foundation Inc., CREC- River School Street, Gentle Love Diaper Pantry, Gifts of Love, Glastonbury Family YMCA & Tri Town YMCA, Hands on Hartford, Healing Meals Community Project, Holcomb Farm, Interval House, Little Sisters of the Poor, Marc Inc., Mary's Place , My Sister's Place, Oak Hill, Operation Fuel, Our Companions, Protectors of Animals, Siamese Rescue, The Bridge, The Network and TLC Foundation.

Giving back to the community is in Infoshred’s DNA. In 2012, Lombardo established The Giving Tree Fund in honor of her 40th birthday. She wanted to set up a fund to help people in need and to teach her daughters Marina, Amelia, and Marcella, about the spirit of giving to others. Since its founding the fund has supported programs such as Hands on Hartford, Oak Hill Music Therapy, the 4-H Camp, the Channel 3 Kids Camp, Community Renewal Team, Inc. Women’s Empowerment Center, Shag Bark Hickory Farm, Inc., The Salvation Army (Parents Second Time Around) and the TLC Foundation.
Infoshred began in 1993 as a division of Recyclers LLC, a South Windsor, CT recycling business. It provided secure document destruction services and mobile paper shredding. In 1997 Lombardo purchased the company and organized it as Infoshred LLC, a State of Connecticut certified Minority/Woman-Owned Business. The company is a Charter Member of the National Association for Information Destruction (NAID), was an early adopter of the NAID Certification Program, and maintains certification for secure on-site and off-site document destruction services.

In October 2003 Infoshred launched a Secure Archives Center. “It was a natural progression for our business,” says Lombardo. “Our customers were requesting it and we were already familiar with a high level of security from our destruction business. We added a 50,000 sq. ft. facility adjacent to our shredding plant which has a capacity to store 500,000 boxes.”
Lombardo believes that celebrating the company’s birthday by giving, rather than receiving presents, is the right thing to do: “Throughout our 25 years in business, we’ve built our success on two things: going above and beyond for our customers and making a difference in our community,” she says. “We believe our 25 Weeks of Giving campaign honors both of those ideas.”
