Convicted Felon Charged In Drive-By Shooting Of Windsor Locks Home: PD

An occupied residence was struck by gunfire last December, though no one was injured, according to police.

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — A convicted felon from Hartford is accused of shooting at an occupied home on South Elm Street last December.

Two adults and two small children were home at the time, though no one was injured, according to police.

The drive-by shooting happened on Dec. 12, 2024 at 245 South Elm St.

Police determined the residence had been struck by gunfire and recovered a bullet projectile from inside the home, police said.

According to police, the residents had no relationship to the shooter.

Investigators were able to identify the suspect’s vehicle, which they found on Vine Street in Hartford. After reviewing video evidence and conducting search warrants and interviews, Det. Heriberto Resto secured an arrest warrant for Jose Morales of Hartford, police said.

Morales was taken into custody on Sept. 25. According to police, he is a convicted felon with prior firearm-related offenses.

Morales is charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm, criminal possession of a pistol/revolver, weapons in a motor vehicle, four counts reckless endangerment, risk of injury to a minor, and second-degree breach of peace.

Morales was held on $600,000 court-set bond, and he is due to be arraigned today in Superior Court in Hartford.
