EAST WINDSOR, CT — A craft brewing company which has operated for more than six years in the Sofia's Plaza announced on social media Wednesday that it will be shutting its doors this spring.

Problem Solved Brewing Company opened in September 2018, in a space which had previously housed the Broad Brook Brewing Company, which moved to Suffield. It was founded by Alan Bukowinski, a high school math teacher, and Heath Gelinas, an aerospace engineer. The two home-brewed for several years before starting their own brewery.

In posting the imminent closure, which is tentatively set for the end of March, the owners cited several factors which prompted the decision.

Their Facebook post reads:

"It is with a heavy heart and deep gratitude that we announce the closing of Problem Solved. After much consideration, we have made the incredibly difficult decision to close our doors. Many factors have gone into our decision but mainly the balancing of our full time jobs, family and the demands of the brewery have become increasingly challenging. That coupled with the uncertain economy, changing market and signing of a lengthy lease just doesn’t make sense on paper at this time.
From the very beginning, our mission was simple: to craft exceptional beers and create a welcoming space where community, friends, and families could come together to share laughter, stories, and unforgettable moments. It has been an honor to serve you, and to be a part of so many of your lives.
Over the six years, we’ve had the privilege of seeing friendships form, celebrations take place, and memories made right here in our taproom. Your support has meant more to us than words can express.
As we close this chapter, we want to express our deepest gratitude for your patronage. We will forever cherish the experiences we’ve shared with each and every one of you. The love and support you’ve shown has kept us going, and for that, we are truly thankful.
We are also very thankful for our awesome staff, when you visit please thank them all for their hard work and dedication. We certainly could not have done this without them, they are the faces you see each and every time you visit. We know they will miss you all as well.
We will be targeting to stay open, business as usual, through the end of March. We will let you know if things change.
We look forward to seeing where life’s next chapter takes us, and we will forever carry the memories of our time here with us.
Thank you again for your unwavering support. You’ve made this journey one we’ll never forget. We hope to share many more pints before we close, so please continue to stop in until then.
With heartfelt thanks and appreciation,
Alan, Heath, Mel, Leah, Molly, Amy, Nate and Kaitlyn
