Windsor Locks Receives State Support To Plan Outdoor Wellness, Athletic Facility

The grant allows Windsor Locks to advance planning for a community wellness and athletic space on the high school campus.

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — The Town of Windsor Locks has been awarded a $250,000 state planning grant to support development of a proposed Community Outdoor Wellness and Athletic Center on the Windsor Locks High School campus.

The Connecticut State Bond Commission approved funding through the state’s Community Investment Fund for preliminary design and feasibility work for the project, which is planned for 58 Elm Street, officials said.

Town officials said the proposed center is intended to serve a wide range of residents, including youth athletes, adult recreational leagues, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. The project is designed to provide outdoor athletic and wellness opportunities that promote physical activity, health, and community engagement.

The planning grant represents an early step in the development process and does not fund construction. Instead, it will allow the town to evaluate design options, site feasibility, and long-term community needs before moving forward, officials said.
