EAST WINDSOR, CT — A pair of East Windsor residents were arrested in recent days in connection with a March 2024 incident which injured a Connecticut State Police trooper.

Late in the afternoon of April 8, East Windsor police took Vilmarie Ayala, 33, into custody following an incident in that town. It was determined Ayala had an active arrest warrant out of state police Troop H in Hartford, and she was turned over to state police.

In the March 2024 incident, Ayala's vehicle was involved in a pursuit by both East Windsor and state police, drove the wrong way on a limited access highway, and collided with a state police cruiser, injuring the trooper operating the cruiser. Ayalaa initially reported her vehicle had been stolen, but later admitted she knew who was driving it, state police said.

Late Monday morning, personnel from Troop H responded to Hartford Superior Court to serve an active arrest warrant on Christopher Velazquez, 44, of East Windsor. The warrant stemmed from the same 2024 incident in which he was identified as the operator of the vehicle which engaged both East Windsor Police and state police in a pursuit. Velazquez fled the scene on foot after the vehicle became disabled following the collision with the cruiser, state police said.
