EAST WINDSOR, CT — At least a half-dozen storage units were affected by a fire Sunday afternoon at the CubeSmart storage facility on Route 5.

Personnel from the Warehouse Point and Broad Brook fire departments were dispatched to the facility around 2:41 p.m. Crews arrived on scene and began to force entry into the locked storage units, fire officials said.

Six to eight storage units contained heavy fire, but crews quickly knocked down the bulk of the flames. Firefighters had to perform extensive overhaul of several units due to their contents, and the blaze was brought under control within an hour of arrival, fire officials said.
