'He Works Tirelessly': Broad Brook Hero

BROAD BROOK, CT When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these everyday heroes.

Grocery store worker

Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?
Tom was a senior History/Education major in college, enjoying his student teaching experience when Covid-19 engulfed our world. He was looking forward to the enjoyable activities that a college senior would experience, but that was not to be.Tom looked at this time as an opportunity to help his community by working at the local grocery store - a place he had worked at periodically since high school. As he was working, Tom continued his schooling on-line and graduated with honors. He works tirelessly to maintain a clean,safe, and comfortable environment at the store for both the customers and employees. Tom encounters many of the neighbors at the store and they always get a chance to "catch-up" on the happenings in town. This helps to bring a sense of normalcy to our community in this time of uncertainty.

What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your hero?:
Tom works hard to serve his customers and bring a smile to their faces with his positive attitude.
