Mask Mandate Lifted For Public Buildings In East Windsor
The decision is effective immediately and comes as East Windsor recently switched from a "red" to "yellow" COVID-19 case rate designation.

EAST WINDSOR, CT — Effective immediately, masks will no longer be required in East Windsor's public buildings.
The town lifted its mask mandate on Monday because East Windsor's 14-day rolling average and case rate per 100,000 people continues to move in a positive direction, First Selectman Jason E. Bowsza said.
East Windsor recently moved from a "red" to "yellow" designation, Bowsza said.

A town is in the "red" zone if it has a case rate of greater than 15 per 100,000 people over the previous two weeks, and in the "yellow" zone if its case rate is between 5 and 9 per 100,000 people, according to Gov. Ned Lamont.
"While the pandemic persists, our highest priority as a community should continue to be the health and safety of the most vulnerable amongst us — the elderly, and our children," Bowsza said. "Therefore, lifting the indoor mask mandate shall not preclude any individual from choosing to wear a mask indoors, out of concern for their health and safety or for the health and safety of others."

East Windsor initially decided to implement an indoor mask mandate as of Aug. 20 due to the area's COVID-19 case statistics at the time, as provided by the North Central District Health Department, Bowsza said.
The decision to mandate face coverings in Connecticut municipalities is up to the discretion of municipal chief executive officers, per an executive order from Gov. Lamont.
