New Balloon Shop In East Windsor Fills Holes Left By Closure Of Big Box Retailer

EAST WINDSOR, CT — The recent departure of Party City stores left a void in the area for people seeking high-level party balloons for their special events, but a small new shop in Pasco Commons on Route 5 in East Windsor has opened to help fill in those gaps.

Balloon Town is owned and operated by Nicole Roy, an Ellington resident who for 16 years has run a successful cleaning business, Deeply Devoted Cleaning Service, which employs multiple teams for residential and office cleaning. Her new venture was directly influenced by the shuttering of the Party City outlets.

"Party City closed, and everybody is looking for balloons," she told Patch. "And I figured I would open up a local store here, where you can have walk-in hours to shop for what you're looking for, as well as chat about your party planning."

In addition to the pressing need for a shop like hers, there was another factor that made Roy open the business.

"It's a fun business to run," she said. "Balloons make everybody happy. It's been very enjoyable when you're smiling and working at the same time."

Roy takes pride in the fact her store only offers top-quality products.

"It's important to know that we only provide high-quality, durable balloons, so we don't provide cheap balloons, like you're going to find at a few other local places," she said. "Our balloons will last. We use HiFloat in our balloons, which makes the helium last 25 times longer, and it makes them flip."

Helium balloons, balloon garlands and foil balloons are all available, with each being suitable for outdoor use. Balloon arches, which have become very popular wedding attractions, are available for rent.

The storefront is open Thursdays and Fridays from noon to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. However, she said, "We are always available for pickup and deliveries, seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., so if you place an order ahead of time, we can deliver or be here for an Insta pickup appointment."
