Owner Of East Windsor's Exodus Favors Possible Tattoo Licensing Regulation

Count Keith Wheeler among those who favors the proposed state legislation that would require tattoo paroles to obtain licenses.

Wheeler, who owns Exodus Tattoo and Pierce on South Main Street, said that no one wants to pay for a license.

"But if it cleans up the industry, it's not a bad thing," he said, before adding "as long as they do it right."

The legislation, which was approved on May 9 by the House of Representatives, is currently being considered by the senate.

The bill in its current form would establish a licensing process for the 200-plus tattoo parlors in the state, and would include a first-aid, blood-borne pathogen and communicable disease course.
