Suspect In 2023 Armed Robbery In Windsor Locks Picked Up In North Carolina: Police
Police are exploring extradition procedures to have him returned to Connecticut to face charges.

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — A suspect in an armed robbery in the parking lot of a Windsor Locks bar more than two years ago was captured by authorities in North Carolina, and faces likely extradition back to Connecticut.
Around 2:15 a.m. on May 13, 2023, police were summoned to the parking lot of the Blackboard Café on Spring Street, on a report of a past-tense robbery. A man told officers after a few drinks he was in the parking lot when approached by a black male, about 30 years of age, who asked him for money. After the victim said he only had $10 cash, the suspect asked if he had “Cash App,” then produced a silver semi-automatic handgun from his waistband and stuck the barrel just below the victim's waistband while demanding all his money, police said.
The victim said he continued to comply so he would not get shot, and gave the man the codes for Cash App. He said the suspect stated he was on the run for murder in North Carolina and showed a monitoring ankle bracelet, while stating the gun was a .40 caliber. Once the money was obtained, the man fled west on Spring Street in a dark sport utility vehicle, police said.

An investigation concluded the suspect was Dontae Willis-Green Malik of Raleigh, N.C., who was 27 at the time. He left a hotel on Route 75 and continued to remain elusive, police said.
In late December 2023, a judge approved an arrest warrant charging Malik with first-degree robbery, first-degree threatening and second-degree larceny. Bond was set at $100,000, and extradition was authorized due to the felonious nature of the incident, police said.
