Suspects Accused Of Crime In Windsor Locks Arrested In Hartford

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — A pursuit which began early Monday morning with a report of armed suspects tampering with a vehicle in Windsor Locks ended with a foot chase in Hartford, resulting in the arrest of two people, which two others still at large.

Around 2:16 a.m., Windsor Locks police were informed of multiple persons tampering with a motor vehicle on Grove Street. A caller reported the suspects were armed with a rifle, and a suspect had pointed the weapon at the caller upon confrontation, police said.

The suspects fled in a gray Mini Cooper and were spotted by a Windsor Locks patrol officer, who unsuccessfully attempted to stop the car on Interstate 91 and eventually broke off pursuit. Police informed neighboring law enforcement agencies, including Connecticut State Police.

Shortly thereafter, the Mini Cooper was stopped in Hartford by state police, who attempted to box in the vehicle. After the car rammed into a state police cruiser, its occupants fled on foot, which led to a foot pursuit which ended upon a Taser deployment, police said.

The driver was identified as Johquan Repton Angol, 28, of Hartford. He was charged with operating under the influence, second-degree assault with a motor vehicle, reckless endangerment, engaging police in pursuit, interfering with an officer, reckless driving, three counts of throwing objects from a motor vehicle and several traffic offenses. He has held in lieu of a $100,000 bash/surety bond, and was slated to be arraigned Monday in Hartford Superior Court.

A passenger in the car, Cristalee Melendez, 25, of Hartford, was charged with interfering with an officer. She was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond, and is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 11.

Two other suspects that evaded apprehension are still at large, according to police.

State police are working in conjunction with Windsor Locks authorities on pending charges for actions which occurred in that town.
