Windsor Locks, East Windsor Election Results 2022: Incumbents Prevail

Thousands of Windsor Locks and East Windsor residents cast their votes in the 2022 state and federal election in a number of key races.

WINDSOR LOCKS-EAST WINDSOR, CT — The polls have closed in Windsor Locks and East Windsor, and vote counting is under way in several key federal and state races, including the office of governor, U.S. Senator, Congress, and local state senators and representatives.

7th Senate

Longtime Republican incumbent John Kissel won his 16th term over Democratic challenger Cynthia Mangini. With all but one precinct reporting as of 1:30 a.m., Kissel held a lead of more than 4,000 votes, according to unofficial totals from the Secretary of the State's office.

60th House

Incumbent Democrat Jane Garibay easily turned back the challenge of Republican Len Walker. Unofficial vote totals from the Secretary of the State's office had Garibay with 6,157 votes, to 3,286 for Walker.

61st House

Incumbent Republican Tami Zawistowski defeated Democratic challenger Jim Irwin. With one precinct yet to report as of 1:30 a.m., Zawistowski held a lead of more than 700 votes, according to unofficial totals provided by the Secretary of the State's office.

Judge of Probate

With eight of nine precincts reporting vote totals to the Secretary of the State's office as of 7 a.m. Wednesday, Democrat Dan Mara had more than doubled the support of Republican Edward G. McAnaney. The Tobacco Valley probate court covers Bloomfield, East Granby, Suffield and Windsor Locks.

EAST WINDSOR

3rd Senate

Democratic incumbent Saud Anwar won his third term, beating back the challenge of Republican Matt Harper. Unofficial vote totals from the Secretary of the State's office indicate a margin of victory of more than 6,000 votes.

"I cannot express my gratitude to the people of East Hartford, East Windsor, Ellington and South Windsor enough," Anwar said. "Their support reaffirms my strength and commitment to working toward a better Connecticut. Amid an uncertain and unstable national and global outlook, our state’s resiliency and capacity to succeed remains unbroken. I will approach this term like I have approached my first two, with my constituents and the best interests of our state in mind at all times."

57th House

In one of the closest races in the area, incumbent Democrat Jaime Foster edged Republican challenger David Stavens by less than 250 votes, according to unofficial totals provided by the Secretary of the State's office.

59th House

Carol Hall has won another term representing parts of Enfield and East Windsor. According to unofficial totals provided by the Secretary of the State's office, the incumbent Republican topped Democratic challenger Matt Despard by about 600 votes.

Judge of Probate

Democrat Mary Deneen more than doubled the vote total of Republican Tad J. Bistor.
