Windsor Locks, East Windsor's Winter Team Sports State Title Histories

WINDSOR LOCKS-EAST WINDSOR, CT — The winter high school sports campaign is officially upon us, as boys ice hockey, girls basketball and wrestling begin practices Monday, while indoor track, boys basketball, boys swimming and gymnastics all commence Dec. 5.

With eager players slated to take the ice, court and mat in the coming days, dreams of a state championship berth in March are already formulating in the minds of athletes and coaches alike.

Two new head coaches will be patrolling the sidelines in Windsor Locks. Orlando Saavedra will take over as girls basketball coach, and Travis Duffy will be joining Brian Deming as indoor track coach, according to athletic director Michelle Pac.

Here are the state title histories in winter sports for teams from Windsor Locks and East Windsor high schools. Note that prior to 1956, high school students from East Windsor attended Ellsworth Memorial High School in South Windsor, which won seven winter titles; those records are included here.
