Bridge Closure Announced In Woodbury

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is advising motorists of a continuous bridge closure that will be in effect in Woodbury.

WOODBURY, CT — The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced Tuesday that the bridge carrying Route 317 (Sycamore Avenue) over Hesseky Brook in Woodbury will be continuously closed starting Monday, Jan. 12, until further notice.

“The purpose of this project is to replace and rehabilitate Bridge No. 01671,” officials wrote in an advisory. “During a recent paving operation, deterioration of the bridge was discovered. Following additional inspections, the decision was made to replace the structure.”

The project is scheduled to be completed May 15.

Route 317 (Sycamore Avenue) at Hesseky Brook will be closed to all traffic starting Monday, January 12, 2026, until further notice. Residents in the immediate project area will still be able to access their homes. Please seek alternate routes and avoid the area when possible. Traffic control signing patterns and flaggers will be on site to guide motorists through the detour.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
