(delawarepublic.org) — Georgetown has broken ground on a new combined police and public works complex that will replace the aging police station and works facility and is slated to open by December 2026. Town leaders say the up-to-date building should boost officer recruitment, improve safety features like holding-area restrooms and a sallyport, and cost the town no more than $17 million through bonded financing.

• DelDOT offers snow removal reimbursements and mailbox damage help (wrde.com) — Georgetown residents are being reminded that DelDOT will help reimburse neighborhoods for private snow removal and even cover damage like broken mailboxes caused by state plows. Civic associations can apply for snow-clearing reimbursements, while individual homeowners can file mailbox damage claims with the state’s Insurance Coverage Office. • Nearly 1,000 pets adopted during Brandywine Valley SPCA Mega Adoption (wrde.com) — Nearly 1,000 pets found new homes during the Brandywine Valley SPCA’s Mega Adoption, including many adopted from the Georgetown campus despite wintry weather. Families from Georgetown and beyond welcomed dogs, cats, and even long-term shelter residents. The SPCA is now seeking donations to keep its rescue and adoption work going.
