FLORIDA — Out of the 50 most expensive rents in the U.S., Florida cities occupy XX of those spots, data compiled by ApartmentGuide.com shows.
New York City had the most expensive average rent at $5,812 for a one-bedroom apartment, a 41.02 percent increase from the year before.
While California topped the list for the most expensive state overall, several long-time East Coast rental markets were at the top of the rankings. Apart from New York, Northeast states like Massachusetts and New Jersey also pop up frequently in the top 50 most expensive places to live and rent an apartment, the report said.

"Overall, the price of rent in the top 50 most expensive cities for renters has increased. But, there's another interesting trend to note. Some major cities didn't see nearly the rent growth of their other metropolitan counterparts. This trend is primarily in cities that have long been regarded as highly expensive," according to a report on the website.
Regarding the methodology for the data, rental figures were pulled from Apartment Guide's multifamily rental property inventory for one-bedroom units over June 2022 and June 2021.
