Allen J. Smith, 77, of Milford, CT passed away on May 27, 2025

Allen was passionate about his work and built lasting relationships throughout his career.

Allen J. Smith, 77, of Milford, CT passed away on May 27, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Allen was born on May 24, 1948, in Miami, Florida, to the late Myron Allen Smith and Susan Colleta Smith. He was the beloved husband of the late Valerie (Walker) Smith, married for 36 years, to whom his constant love never faded.

Allen graduated with a degree in Business Administration from Housatonic Community College and also went on to earn his Private Pilot’s License, following in his father’s footsteps. He began his career at Avco and later worked at Oriel Corporation. Eventually, he co-founded Abet Technologies with his dear friend and business partner, Zbigniew “ZB” Drozdowicz. Allen was passionate about his work and built lasting relationships throughout his career.

Beyond his professional life, Allen had many passions. He was an avid bowler, bowling numerous 300 games and breaking a 14-year record for the highest three-game average. He also loved sailing and traveling, always seeking out new adventures and experiences.

Allen is survived by his beloved daughter, Michele C. Meoli (Brian), and cherished grandsons: Maxwell, Franco, and Joseph. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert J. Smith (Lori Massi) and Russell Smith (Maryann); nephews, Jason Smith and Gregory Smith; and niece, Sandy Deitrich. He maintained a close relationship with his in-laws, Carolyn Walker and the late Calvin Walker. In addition, he leaves behind his close friend and business partner, ZB Drozdowicz (Bonnie); friends Joe and Linda Whelan; and many other dear family members and friends.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, June 6th, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford.
