FL Girl, 8, Stabbed Grandmother Who Was Attacking Her Mother With Knife, Reports Say

A woman who attacked her estranged daughter was stabbed by her 8-year-old granddaughter at a north FL home, the sheriff's office said.

ORANGE PARK, FL — An 8-year-old girl stabbed her estranged grandmother who showed up at her Orange Park home and attacked her mother the afternoon of Nov. 17, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Deputies responded to a disturbance call at the home in the Oakleaf area around 3 p.m.

The caller, later determined to be the victim, could be heard yelling at someone to leave her home, the sheriff’s office said.

When deputies got to the home, they learned that the victim had a physical altercation with her estranged biological mother, Serpil Adams, 62, who had shown up uninvited.

The mother was home with her two young children, including the 8-year-old, when Adams came in through an unlocked door and attacked her with a serrated utility knife, the sheriff’s office said.

The girl, trying to protect her mother, grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed Adams in the arm.

Adams left the area in her vehicle and returned to Jacksonville, where she was staying with a friend, the sheriff's office said.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office found her at the friend's home, where she was taken into custody.

She was charged with attempted second-degree murder.
