Founded by FishHawk Ranch resident Leda Eaton in 2009, Seeds of Hope helps those in need of food who do not qualify for state or federal assistance. Three hundred to 350 boxes of food is distributed every Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Presbyterian Church of Bloomingdale, 710 E. Bloomingdale Ave. in Brandon.
It also operates a backpack program out of Barrington High School where food the weekend is provided to about 150 food-insecure children.
Additionally, Seeds of Hope offers a mobile pantry for people who need short-term food assistance, usually due to an unexpected death of a family member, divorce, loss of employment or illness.
