Driver Charged With Leaving The Scene Of A Crash Death After Pedestrian Died

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office arrested a man on a leaving the scene of a crash death charge Tuesday.

DOVER, FL — Deputies located a 39-year-old man Tuesday after they accused him of hitting a pedestrian in Dover on Jan. 14, and then left the crash location, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

The person he is accused of hitting on Gallagher Road near Lewis Raulerson Road died shortly after they were taken to a local hospital, according to deputies.

U.S. Marshals and the sheriff's office arrested Joseph Cantrell Tuesday on a charge of leaving the scene of a crash with death, the sheriff's office said.

According to investigators, Cantrell drove a black Ford Mustang Jan. 14 when at about 8 a.m., he is accused of hitting a pedestrian on southbound Gallagher Road in Dover and then leaving.
