Lithia, FL – June 2025 – The Fossil Valley Service Unit of Girl Scouts of West Central Florida is proud to announce Macey Clay as a 2025 recipient of the Fossil Valley Scholarship.
Macey has been a dedicated Girl Scout for 13 years, earning her Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards—the highest honors in Girl Scouting. From running cookie booths to leading environmental workshops, Macey has been a constant, driving force in her troop and community.
“Girl Scouts has been my constant,” Macey shared in her essay. “It shaped me into a confident and capable individual, someone who is not afraid to lead, serve, or take risks.”
Her Gold Award project, Climate Challenge Workshops, focused on environmental education for younger girls. A highlight of her journey was connecting with a young Daisy who held her hand the entire session. “I designated her my little helper. Connections foster understanding and instill a strong sense of community.,” Macey recalled fondly.
Beyond Girl Scouts, Macey has shown extraordinary initiative: from serving meals at Trinity Café to leading planning committees for encampments and rallies. She was also a GSWCF Area G Girl Delegate Alternate, representing her peers with poise and leadership.
This fall, Macey heads to Texas A&M University, where she will major in Business Marketing with a minor in Data Analytics. She plans to join the Women’s Business Leaders organization and continue her commitment to service, even as she ventures 17 hours from home.
“Macey is kind, courteous, and a friend to everyone,” wrote mentor Carol Bradbourne. “She’s done so much for our community—this scholarship is well deserved.”
Congratulations, Macey! Fossil Valley is proud of you, and we can’t wait to see all the good you’ll bring to the world.
