Four Riverview Area High School Seniors Receive Scholarship
The Dr. Earl Lennard Scholarship was created by the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce in honor of the late school leader.
BLOOMINGDALE-RIVERVIEW, FL — The Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce announced four Riverview area high school seniors who won the Dr. Earl Lennard Scholarship worth $1,000. Qualifications for this scholarship include the student must have been accepted into a two- or four-year college or trade school in the state of Florida, a recommendation of good academic standing, earned community service hours and participated in extracurricular activities, said a press release.
- Allison Powers, a scholarship recipient who is a Riverview High School senior, has a 3.31 GPA and has been accepted into Florida Gulf Coast University and wants to become a veterinarian.
- Chanel Campbell, another scholarship recipient who attends Lennard High School, has a 3.9 GPA and has been accepted into University of South Florida and Florida State University. Campbell wants to major in nursing.
- Ashley Aagaard, a senior at East Bay High School, has a 3.95 GPA and will attend either the University of South Florida or University of Central Florida, and major in biomedical studies.
- Willow Morgan, a daughter of a Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce member, has a 3.67 GPA and plans to attend Florida Atlantic University with a major social studies education.
The Dr. Earl Lennard Scholarship was created by the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce with a partnership with Riverview Women's Club to honor the late Dr. Earl Lennard, who died in December 2019. Lennard started teaching in Hillsborough schools in 1963, and worked his way up to the top post in 1996.
He was appointed as elections supervisor from 2009 to 2012. He also worked as Hillsborough County's superintendent of schools.

The Greater Riverview community appreciates the work and dedication of the late Dr. Lennard. He is remembered by his saying, “I just hope that they remember I worked hard to make a change and make a difference.”
