Public Engagement Is Open For Upcoming Gibsonton Drive Project

Hillsborough County has opened a public engagement session for Riverview residents to provide feedback about an upcoming road project.

BLOOMINGDALE — RIVERVIEW, FL — A Riverview intersection improvement project at Gibsonton Drive and Fern Hill Drive will replace the temporary traffic light at the intersection with a permanent traffic signal and other infrastructure improvements to add capacity and improve safety, a news release said.

The project will provide infrastructure enhancements expected to improve additional turn lanes on the south leg of the intersection. Three left turn lanes, one through lane, and one right turn lane will be added, according to officials. Sidewalk gaps along Fern Hill Drive will be completed to provide sidewalk connectivity, and crosswalks will be added at the intersection to enhance pedestrian safety and access in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), officials said.

Construction on the $5.5 million project is expected to begin in late 2022 and be complete in mid-2023, according to Hillsborough County staff.
