Lithia Man, 52, Killed In Crash

LITHIA, FL — The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a single-vehicle crash that left a Lithia man dead Saturday night.

According to the agency, James Russell Hicks was heading southbound on County Road 39 around 5:15 p.m. March 25. As Hicks traveled just north of Thompson Road at an estimated 70 mph, he lost control of his Ford Expedition, an email from the sheriff’s office said.

Hicks’ Expedition left the road and struck a TECO pole, the sheriff’s office said. Hicks died at the scene.
