Local Girl Scout Troop Advocates for Pediatric Cancer Research Through

Troop 33508 recently completed a Journey or Take Action Award project focused on advocacy and education.

Bloomingdale, FL – The Brownies of Girl Scout Troop 33508, part of the Fossil Valley Girl Scouts, are making a difference in their community by raising awareness about pediatric cancer research. Under the guidance of Troop Leader Kayla Zonnevylle, the troop recently completed a Journey or Take Action Award project focused on advocacy and education.

The girls participated in the “Gold Pumpkins for a Cure” initiative, hosted by the Little Hero Foundation. They decorated pumpkins and learned about the importance of research in the fight against pediatric cancer. Each Brownie wrote a heartfelt message explaining why cancer research is vital. These messages, along with their decorated pumpkins, were combined into a poster that is now displayed at Duck Donuts on Bloomingdale Avenue.

Troop Leader Kayla Zonnevylle shared her pride in the troop’s dedication to this cause, saying, “The girls were so passionate about learning and sharing their thoughts. Their poster has become a meaningful part of the community.”
