Memorial Service Will Honor 17 Fallen Sheriff's Office Deputies
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has lost 17 officers in the agency's history. They will be honored Wednesday at a Tampa ceremony.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — A memorial service honoring the 17 deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office who have lost their lives in the line of duty will happen Wednesday, a news release said.
Among the officers being honored is Sgt. Brian LaVigne, who was hit and killed by a car driven by a suspect in a crash on Jan. 11, 2021, in Brandon. LaVigne's family will unveil his name on the HCSO Memorial Wall for the first time with Sheriff Chad Chronister and the HCSO Honor Guard. Families and loved ones of fallen deputies will gather at the Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony to give their respects.
The agency has lost a total of 17 deputies during the line of duty in its history.

The aviation unit will present a flyover and 21 Gun Salute. Attorney General Ashley Moody will be the guest speaker for the ceremony.
It is our shared responsibility to never forget the men and women whose names are etched on the Fallen Heroes Memorial, as the impact of these 17 fallen deputies is immeasurable," Sheriff Chad Chronister said. "I pray that the families of our heroes will find comfort in this ceremony and know that the legacy of their loved ones will live on forever."

The public is also invited to attend the Wednesday ceremony at Fallen Heroes Memorial, 1900 E. Ninth Ave., Tampa. The ceremony begins at 7 p.m.
