Scholarship Application Deadline For Riverview Seniors

The Dr. Earl Lennard scholarship worth $1,000 will be given to five Riverview seniors. The application deadline is approaching.

BLOOMINGDALE — RIVERVIEW, FL — The deadline for applications for the Dr. Earl Lennard scholarship is approaching. It's open to Riverview area high school seniors, the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce said.

The scholarship is worth $1,000 and will be awarded to five students in memory of prominent local educator Dr. Lennard. Lennard was a longtime educator who served as Hillsborough County's superintendent and as its supervisor of elections. He taught in the school system since 1962 and retired from education in 2005.

At the age of 77, Lennard died Dec. 23, 2019.

The scholarship is not a needs-based scholarship, and the student’s college or trade school of choice is not limited to Florida institutions, the chamber said. The student must attend either Lennard High School, East Bay High School, Riverview High School, Spoto High School, work for a GRCC member or have a parent/guardian member of GRCC.
