Small Plane Lands on Interstate 75 Near Gibsonton Dr.

A single-engine aircraft with three people on board on the median, according to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue. No injuries were reported, but fuel may have been spilled.

A single-engine aircraft made an emergency landing Thursday morning in the median on Interstate 75 near Gibsonton Drive, according to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.

The pilot and two passengers were not injured, officials said, but about 60 gallons of fuel may have been spilled on the ground.

Traffic was backed up in both directions on I-75, TBO.com reports.

The aircraft did not crash but sustained damage on landing sometime around 9:30 a.m., according to a media release.

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue's hazardous materials team is on the scene along with law enforcement. No road closures were immediately reported.
