Drinking Water Improvements To Happen In South Hillsborough: County

Residents in the Riverview and Wimauma areas have been asked to provide their opinions about plans officials have to improve water quality.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — South Hillsborough County Water Resources have upcoming online and in-person information sessions about planned improvements to the drinking water transmission pipeline.

The South County Potable (Drinking) Water Transmission Main project is designed to enhance service reliability and improve water pressure in south-central Hillsborough County, a news release said.

The online engagement begins June 27 and ends July 10. Residents can participate in the online public engagement at any time by visiting HCFLGov.net/HCEngage.

Hillsborough County Water Resources staff will host two in-person meetings to discuss the plans and answer questions for the two proposed segments. Segment One is along Balm Riverview Road from Big Bend Road to Balm Road. Segment Three is along State Road 674 from West Lake Drive to U.S. Highway 301.

  • Tuesday, June 28, 6:30 p.m. Water Resources staff will present plans for Segment One Balm Park Recreation Center 14747 Balm Wimauma Rd., Wimauma
  • Wednesday, June 29, 5 p.m. Water Resources staff will present plans for Segment Three SouthShore Regional Library 15816 Beth Shields Way, Ruskin

Segment One and Segment Three are a portion of the overall goal of constructing 11.5 miles of drinking water transmission pipeline that will increase water pressure to homes and businesses in the South County service area and meet future residential and commercial water demands, staff said.

Construction is anticipated to begin this year, and completion of the entire project is estimated to occur in 2024, staff said.
