City of Boca Raton leaders and staff have long been committed to promoting and encouraging bicycling as a safe, economical, environmentally friendly, and health-conscious mode of transportation and recreation. Recently the City, along with Mayor Scott Singer, joined other local governments and partner agencies in recognizing March 2022 as Florida Bicycle Month by presenting a Florida Bicycle Month proclamation.

The City is a wonderful to place to explore by bike – and there is no better time to start than during the City’s celebration of Florida Bicycle Month. Here are some fun ways you can celebrate:

• Enjoy That Ocean View. It’s a popular route for a reason. The ocean views and cool breezes along the shared use path on A1A make for a great ride.
• Ride Someplace New. Ride a local bike trail you haven't before or check out a new route.
• Bike as a Daily Activity. Leave the car keys at home and get on your bike. Try school drop off/pick up or your commute to work via a bicycle. Even committing to just a day or two a week is good for your health and even better for the environment.
• Learn About Bicycle Safety. The Palm Beach Transportation Planning Agency (TPA) will be hosting a webinar series on safe bicycling throughout the month of March. To register for webinars please visit www.palmbeachtpa.org/walkbike.
• Get Social and Get Moving. Have some fun on a group ride around town – or your neighborhood – with family or friends. You can also join the TPA on their group bicycle ride, on Friday, March 11 at 8am. Registration at www.palmbeachtpa.org/walkbike.
• Test Your Bike Safety Knowledge. Are you a safe biker or motorist? Kids, adults, and drivers can take Florida Bicycle Safety Quiz from the Florida Bicycle Association (FBA) at FL Bicycle Safety Quiz. For other biking resources from the FBA, visit www.floridabicycle.org.
• Need a Bike Fix? The City has improved some centrally located public areas and parks with additional bike racks and bike repair stations, to help riders on the go.
• Share Your Ride. We want to hear about your favorite bike ride in the City! Take a bike selfie at your favorite spot and tag us on social media using #LoveBocaRaton.
