2 Bradenton Men Injured When Car Strikes Tree

One of the young men was ejected from the vehicle after it drove onto the median of University Parkway early Thursday morning, investigators said.

Two Bradenton men were seriously injured when their car struck a tree in the median of University Parkway early Thursday morning.

Their 1998 Chrysler Sebring was headed west on University, just before Country Park Way, around 4:35 a.m. when it exited the roadway and went onto the median and hit a tree, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

The 22-year-old driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle. Both he and his 21-year-old passenger, who was wearing a seat belt, were seriously injured and taken to Blake Medical Center for treatment.

The men's families had not yet been notified Thursday morning, officials said.

It was not clear if alcohol was a factor, according to the highway patrol's report.
