BRADENTON, FL — The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office announced that Fleet Mechanic Christopher Osborne, 32, died of COVID-19. Osborne left behind a wife and four children.

Osborne joined the Sheriff’s Office in July 2018, according to the Sheriff’s Office. “He was quickly revered by co-workers as a brilliant mechanic, known for his innate ability to diagnose complex issues,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that garnered 97 comments and 189 shares.

Osborne was awarded Employee of the Month in 2019, when he and a coworker located and fixed a problem on the office’s electrical vehicles that the manufacturer was unable to diagnose, the Sheriff’s Office said.
