36 Florida Counties Report 187 New Coronavirus Deaths

Thirty-six Florida counties reported 187 new coronavirus deaths Tuesday as health officials reported a one-day increase of 7,569 cases.

TALLAHASSEE, FL — Thirty-six Florida counties reported 187 new coronavirus deaths Tuesday as health officials reported a one-day increase of 7,569 cases.

State health officials attributed much of the one-day increase to a backlog of 75,000 lab results submitted Monday by Quest Diagnostics. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis subsequently ordered state agencies to sever all ties with Quest.

Tuesday marked Florida's 20th day of daily positivity under 10 percent while officials reported a new statewide positive case total of 631,040 from 623,471 a day earlier, according to state health officials.
