State Champions lauded this week, Manatee County Fair opens Thursday and the city finalizes an agreement with the Department of Environmental Protection over last June's sewage spill.
1. The Manatee High School football team, state champons, will be honored by the Manatee County Commission this morning at the commission's 9 a.m. meeting. The team was honored Monday night by the Manatee County School board. The school board made sure to include more than the coaches and the players. The principal and the teams tutor also received recognition.

3.The is set to sign an agreement with the Department of Environmental Protection over fines levied for a sewage spill last June that ended up in the Manatee River. The city will have to pay $25,000 in fines under the agreement or make an in-kind investment in an environmental improvement project approved by the DEP. The City Council meets Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.

4. Manatee County will host a no kill booth at the Manatee County fair to help educate fair goers about the no kill efforts, to promote adoptions and to recruit volunteers. The county fair officially opens at 5 p.m. Thursday.
