Body Found Floating Next to Sea Wall

Employees of Yolo Parasail discovered the victim at 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 30. The 70-year-old victim's golf cart was parked nearby.

The victim has been identified as David S. Gidley, 70, of Bradenton, the sheriff's office said Tuesday afternoon.

The body of a 70-year-old man was found floating Tuesday morning next to a sea wall at 4330 127th St. W. in Cortez.

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office reports that investigators believe the victim may have fallen off the sea wall Monday evening. The man's golf cart was found parked nearby.

Investigators said they can find no evidence of foul play, though an autopsy will be done.

The man's body was found by employees of Yolo Parasail. The body was partially trapped between a piling and the sea wall. The identity of the victim is not being disclosed until next of kin are notified, officials said.
